In the MWSD course being held by the McHenry (IL) Bachelors and Bachelorettes we have a deaf student. Her partner conveys the music beat to her by bouncing his hand and her mother and a friend (both are dancers) sign the calls.
She danced in both the Mainstream and Plus halls at the 1998 Iowa State Convention in March; other dancers in her square and the callers were amazed !
